Database Changes

Note: this blog post was originally posted on lambtracker.com and has been moved here for preservation. Some information may be outdated.

I’m making some changes to the database structure based on feedback from other rare breed breeders. I’ve moved the registration info out to a separate set of tables to account for sheep that may be part of more than two registries. I have found some breeds with three or more different registrations (such as US BWMS, UK BWMS, and Natural Colored), so we’ll eventually need to allow for more than two registrations per sheep. I’ve also started to add the tables and placeholders necessary for handling semen collection and dealing with lambs sired by deceased rams. I also need to implement embryo or egg collection, as well as the capability to handle lambs with a different genetic mother from the rearing mother. That part is still very much a work in progress, but I’m making headway.

We’ve also squashed a few more lambing bugs, just in time. We’re already within the gestation period for this year, and we’re expecting lambs any day now.
