About Us
AnimalTrakker® started more than 14 years ago with its precursor program, LambTracker®. Eugenie (Oogie) and Ken McGuire created the program from scratch. They wanted to fill a niche that didn’t exist at the time: an inexpensive, fully-featured, open-source software to help manage their flock. For years, the only options were expensive and corporate-owned, so LambTracker® became their alternative. Oogie and Ken also run Desert Weyr Black Welsh Mountain Sheep and Juniper Gulch Ranch in Paonia, Colorado, and that’s where the bulk of the program’s testing and development took place.
It took several years and some additional team members to get AnimalTrakker® to where it is today, but the results speak for themselves. Oogie, Ken, and current team members Jon Cobb, Mitch Allen, Rebekah Mesman, and Rose Mattise have worked with sheep ranchers, veterinarians, and cattle ranchers in the pursuit of convenient animal management. Today, AnimalTrakker® is active at several farms and vet clinics already, with more on the way.

Oogie says the most loved feature of the AnimalTraker® system is the ability to print sample labels on-demand that link directly to specific animals in the database. It makes organization of tests and samples a cinch.
Special thanks go to the volunteers, clients, and helpers who have been instrumental in making AnimalTrakker® a reality:
